FILLINGS - Enamel colored restorations - When a tooth has caries (or decay) it is necessary to clean out all of the decay. We then fill the cavity with a Resin-Composite material. Composite is a white, non-mercury, material which makes the entire tooth strong, long lasting and resistant to decay. Because this material has an enamel like color the result is very attractive and looks like a natural tooth.

WHITENING - Tooth Whitening is actually a bleaching process that lightens discolorations of enamel and dentin. The system uses a mild solution retained in a custom-fitted tray that is worn over your teeth. Almost anyone can benefit from tooth whitening.

Florence Dental employs 2 types of Whitening Systems:
  • 1 Hour in Office, or,
  • Custom Fitted Trays for Home Use

VENEERS - Veneers are a thin, translucent coating made out of porcelain or resin (plastic). They are applied to the front teeth to improve their color, size or shape. Veneers can help you achieve the smile you want. Veneers can correct many dental problems. These include:
  • Teeth discolored from medication or age
  • Front teeth that are worn or chipped
  • Gaps and other spaces between teeth
  • Crooked teeth

PORCELAIN CROWNS - A crown is a special dental restoration that entirely covers or "caps" a tooth. Besides strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance. We may recommend a crown to:
  • Replace a large filling when there isn't enough tooth remaining
  • Protect a weak tooth from fracturing
  • Restore a fractured tooth
  • Attach a bridge
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Cover a poorly shaped tooth
  • Cover a discolored tooth
  • Cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment

ADVANCED CARE - Our office is unique in being able to provide start-to-finish dental implants. Dr. John Dean, Clinical Chairman to the Periodontal Department at the University of Connecticut Dental School is available to our patients who need periodontal surgery and bone grafts. Dr. Benjamin Falk provides both implant placement and complete restorations of implants so that patients need not be referred to other locations. We know that this is a great comfort and convenience for our patients.

DENTAL IMPLANTS - What is an Implant? - A dental implant is an artificial tooth root (synthetic material) that is surgically anchored into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge in place. The benefit of using implants is that they don't rely on neighboring teeth for support, they are permanent and stable. Implants are a good solution to tooth loss because they look, feel and function like natural teeth.

GUM TREATMENT - Periodontal disease is an infection of the teeth, gums and the bone that surround the teeth. Most people who have periodontal disease aren't even aware of it. It is rarely painful, especially in the early stages.
Warning signs of Periodontal Disease:
  • Persistent bad breath
  • Bleeding gums when brushing or flossing
  • Swollen, tender gums
  • Gums that are shrinking away from the teeth
  • Loose teeth
The goal of our Doctors and Hygienists is to help our patients achieve and maintain a healthy mouth. A healthy, beautiful smile gives a person a feeling of confidence and well-being.

ROOT CANAL THERAPY - Root canal treatment usually involves the removal of the tooth's pulp, a small thread-like tissue that was important for tooth development. Once removed, it is replaced with materials that seal off the root canal from its supporting structures. Years ago, diseased or injured teeth were often extracted. Today, even if the pulp of one of your teeth becomes injured or infected, it often can be saved through root canal (endodontic) treatment. Endodontics is the area of dentistry concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases or injuries to the dental pulp.
